3.0 Gluing Defect Frequency

There are 10 different types of gluing problems that can arise on Flexo Folder Gluers or Specialty Folder Gluers. If you have not yet read “Introduction to Gluing Problems” and “Gluing Defect Types” then please do so before reading this article.

Although most corrugated box plants know they have gluing problems, all are surprised to come to know the diversity of problems that are actually occurring in their plant. We have found that corrugated box plants often want to know what the most common gluing issues are in their production facility. The truth is that the issues themselves vary widely not only between plants, but between machines and even operators. There are dozens of factors that can influence what types of gluing problems will be most frequent on a particular piece of equipment including machinery type and model, gluing system type and model, machinery modifications, configuration, along with operator style and experience can all play significant factors in influencing which gluing problems become the most prevalent at a particular plant.

Over the past several years, we have been collecting information on gluing problem types and their frequency. The graph below provides a quick overview of the problem occurrences and their ratios in the industry as a whole.
